Athletes Foot Treatment

Athlete's Foot:

  • Athlete's foot is a condition caused by a group of fungi called dermatophytes

Symptoms to look for:

  • Itching between the toes
  • Scaly, reddish and rough skin
  • Moist, white lesions leading to pain and discomfort
  • Pungent smell
  • Infection may spread to nails making them thick and yellow in colour

Causes:

  • Wearing closed footwear for long periods of time leads to collection of sweat
  • The moist conditions facilitate fungal growth

Natural home remedy using baking soda:

1. Take 2 tbsp of baking soda
2. Add some water to make a paste
3. Apply the paste on the infected area
4. Once dry, wash it off
5. Dry your feet thoroughly with a towel

Natural home remedy using corn starch:

1. Take some corn starch
2. Apply on the affected area with cotton
3. Wash after 15 minutes

Natural home remedy using garlic:

1. Crush 5-7 garlic cloves to make a paste
2. Massage on the infected area
3. Leave it for 10 minutes
4. Wash with normal water

Natural home remedy using vinegar:

1. Vinegar is acidic and kills fungus
2. Take 1 part vinegar and 4 parts water
3. Mix in a tub
4. Soak your feet in it for 20-30 min
5. Do this twice everyday

Tips:

  • Dry your feet after bathing
  • Clean your shoes regularly
  • Wear open-toed sandals if you sweat a lot
